Australian Open Ysaline Bonaventure (WTA 158) has placed itself for the main table of the Australian Open in Melbourne. The 24-year-old from Liège is, for the first time in the final stage of a grand slam tournament.

Bonaventure defeated in the third and last preliminary round, the Dutch Richel Hogenkamp (WTA 168) in two sets: 6-4, 6-3.
