HAMBURG (Ekstra Bladet): As Nikolaj Jacobsen sometime last spring received an invitation to the Danish national team on a brisk June-trip to Guadeloupe, he was probably going to have to consult Google Maps to find the tropical paradise out in the middle of the azure caribbean sea.
the Invitation came from the French håndboldforbund, who lacked someone to play with.

The two national team traveled together and enjoyed themselves tremendously, and if Denmark in the evening beats France, there is every reason to say ’merci’.
– We played two games and had time for the beach, we were allowed to enjoy a little rum and a good grilled steak.
– It was a great trip for us, says Nikolaj Jacobsen.
Henrik Møllgaard know that tired players now draw on vitamins from in the summer:
We had spent a lot of hours together. Whether it was in the hotel room, the beach, or when we were out to eat, then it was on some other conditions, than when we are gathered at the Scandic hotel in Sydhavnen. We were forced to be together, and there was not much handball – but there were all sorts of other fun and gag instead.
– We can easily call it team building in the way that we told bull stories, talked old memories, and the young men that were with, was introduced in the old stories about Kasper Søndergaard and Lars Christiansen.
Such a trip creates a common fortælleramme and understanding of what it is, it here national team goes out on. It is not by sitting together for three meals a day at Scandic, says Henrik Møllgaard.
Lasse Svan, who are trained to coach:
– We came closer together as a group, and for some of the young boys as Magnus Landin, Lasse Møller, Magnus Saugstrup, it was an easier way to break the barriers that can exist between young and old players. I’m sure there was an ulterior motive, that we should get there, and the trip gave certainly paid off. It is fine enough, that young boys have respect for the old, but they must also not be afraid of them. It has perhaps been in the past, and how I had it when I started. I was a little nervous to talk with the old boys, says the veteran.
– We had a good talk about the semifinals last year and in general about the finals, where there were a few svipsere along the way. We need to be able to make greater demands on each other.
– What does it mean in practice?
– we f.ex. not just looks, if someone doesn’t do it, they must. It was especially the training, we had to focus on. It could sometimes be a little too relaxed, and we have tightened up. Træningerne up to and during this WORLD cup have been significantly better than in the past, says Lasse Svan, and adds:
– People may well be bored by it if they get criticism – criticism is good and means we want to help each other.
