the Extra Leaf has been in contact with Øystein Hernes, who is the man behind the idea to translate the newspaper’s håndboldartikler to English.

Why did you decided to translate the articles to English?

– Norway did the his part of the work (with the victory over Hungary ed.), but was relying on, that the danes helped. So therefore we felt that it was right and proper to send a thank you, he explains.

Handball – 24. jan. 2019 – at. 06:20 Nikolaj Jacobsen after the victory: – I do not understand all your thinking

It offends hardly anyone, claiming to have sneaked a few linguistic errors in the Danish lookups, but it is a quite natural explanation.

It is not a dane, who has made the translation.

– It is a colleague who has lived several years in Denmark. I assume, that the Danish is not perfect, so we made a disclaimer on the front that we could not love flawlessly Danish, says Øystein Hernes.

With a Swedish victory on the three or four targets would Norway be out of the tournament, and the swedes were on a stage in front with three goals before Denmark turned up the volume.

The Danish victory did not come as the big shock for the norwegians despite talk of collusion between Denmark and Sweden.

– the Norwegians, so the both our matches against Denmark and Sweden. I think people had seen how good it was, and that the danes would probably win, explains Øystein Hernes.
