Denmark goes to spring and warmer weather in the meeting. And in the weekend there is one person who might hope for a little more sun and weak wind than normal.
Political leader, Morten Østergaard (R) is embarking on a three and a half mile long swim in order to show that ‘we are drowning in tend towards symbolic policy’.
He must swim from the much talked about island of Lindholm to the harbour in Kalvehave on south Zealand. Denmark needs a new direction, he believes.
– I think that we are drowning in tend towards symbolic policy. I think that there are many victims of that the important problems are cleared up, because the government and the DF – often supported by S – has more busy making this here tend towards symbolic policy, says Morten Østergaard.
In 2018 was the government and the Danish people’s Party agreed that criminal foreigners should be expelled, but as Denmark can’t send home, from 2021 to stay on the island of Lindholm I Stege Bay.
Østergaard believes that more of the action, there ago 2015 has been made in Denmark, is nonsensical, and it is not only on foreigners and integration.
He mentions examples such as the maskeringsforbud, smykkelov, uddannelsesloft and vildsvinehegn.
It is not only in order to shout the other politicians at Christiansborg up, he does it.
– It is a stunt, with the seriousness behind it that I’m willing to do something that is unfamiliar, at least for me. It must show that the policy is not just a matter of ads and pretense, he says.
– It is also about doing something that shows the public that we take their concerns seriously.
the Plan is to Østergaard goes in the water at 13. He is expected to arrive at the harbour in Kalvehave about an hour and a half later.
The Radical also holds a protest action against udrejsecenteret on the Lindholm at the Kalvehave Harbour around the clock 14, where Morten Østergaard and partikollegaen Zenia Stampe speak.
Østergaard acknowledges that swimming in itself does not solve the problems.
– It creates, hopefully, a belief that politics can be done differently, where it is not about to move a concern which politicians have created in the one end of the country – Boarding – over to the other end of the country – Kalvehave.
Morten Østergaard, accompanied by Hans Henrik Herning, according to The Radical is experienced in swimming in open water.
