Paul Gheysens has decided to abandon the environmental permit he applied for years ago (and obtained under strict conditions) in the Knokke golf project. He now wants to reopen the dossier and, as things stand now, likely make it less grandiose.

In a press release, Paul Gheysens confirmed his position. He stated that the current nitrogen regulations are forcing him to reopen and revise the dossier. Therefore, he wants everything to be clear now. He remains ambitious about opening a new golf course in Knokke. The original plans included a 120-hectare area with a 27-hole golf course. Additionally, there would be a hotel, residences, and an underground parking lot for 1,350 cars. The entire project was estimated to have an investment value of just under 800 million euros. Gheysens now plans to apply for a new environmental impact assessment (EIA) and a revised permit from the competent authorities.

The developer from Ypres hopes that things will now progress more quickly. With the new application, Gheysens aims to address the concerns raised by the environmental regulations and move the project forward. He is determined to see the Knokke golf project come to fruition in a way that is both environmentally responsible and economically feasible. By revising the plans and seeking new permits, Gheysens is taking proactive steps to ensure the project’s success and compliance with current regulations.
