International full-back Melvyn Jaminet admitted Thursday at a press conference that there was “an element of failure” in his departure from Toulouse, which he left a few weeks ago to join Toulon.
“I didn’t get to the end of things. Obviously, there is an element of failure from Toulouse because I did not finish my contract,” declared Jaminet, who was under contract until 2025 with Toulouse.
“I would have liked to say goodbye but today I am very happy and I feel very good,” he added.
Arriving in the Harbor at the end of November, the player with 19 caps with the XV of France spoke for the first time since his departure from the Pink City when he should start in the RCT jersey on Saturday at on the occasion of the first day of the Champions Cup against Exeter (2 p.m.).
“My time in Toulouse is not perfect but I only want to keep the positive. I thank the club for understanding my expectations, my desire to find more playing time. The discussions were really healthy, particularly with Ugo Mola,” he added.
The 24-year-old full-back now wants to focus on his new team and its new objectives. “I know that eyes will perhaps be more on me but there is no particular pressure. I try to blend into the collective and I think things will happen naturally,” he explained.
Jaminet was already in the RC Toulon group last week for the reception of Pau during the ninth day of Top 14, but he did not play. This time he should start with the red and black jersey. It would only be his third meeting since his last with the Blues against Italy in the World Cup on October 6.
