the cell phone Rings and we turn our gaze automatically to the screen; with less and less time and more spammers bombarding our mobile, cater to a number that is not known may result in a plot that steal too many minutes. What to do in that case? A good part of the users choose not to answer calls from numbers I do not know, while others continue to rely on the answering machine to filter. But Google proposes another solution: use the artificial intelligence.

The service, known as Call Screening, was introduced together with the sophisticated Pixel 3, but it has been just a few days ago when some users have seen the new button on the screens of their phones, which advances a widespread deployment of the system. But… what exactly is this new service, how it works and what it brings really to the user?

A filter automated call

The basic aim of this filter is the automated call is to save the user time, especially when the caller is a stranger and we don’t want to waste time figuring out what you want. The principle is the same as that applied to the centers of the telephone support of the large companies, but in reverse: the automated voice that compels us to explain the reason for our call was put now of our part, and asks the caller to identify himself and explain the reason for the call.

On the computers on which the system is available, when a call in addition to answer or hang up, the user Mariobet will have a new button called “Call Screening” (we still don’t know how to translate this function to Google in Spanish, although it may be ‘call screening’). Pressing this button two things happen simultaneously: the caller will hear the voice of a robot informing that it is a voice assistant and urging you to identify yourself and explain the reason for the call.

The automated voice that compels us to explain the reason for our call was put now of our part, and asks the caller to identify himself and explain the reason for the call

in Parallel, we will see in real-time and in the mobile screen a transcript of this conversation, so that if the name of the person or the reason for the call us are interesting, we can stop the filter and attend to this person. If not, we can choose to reject the call (let’s imagine it is a commercial call) in which case the wizard apologizes politely but will refuse the call; you can also indicate that you will return the call indicating that the wizard.

The transcript of the call

in Addition, we will also be able to press a button during the transcription wondering if it is urgent, and the virtual assistant will formulate the question for us; also we will mark that number as spam in the event that we detect that it is an automated call or business and without interest. As can be seen, the system removes the user from the first line of fire you have to take a call and that is already a great added value, but that does not end there.

The Call Screening shall keep a written transcript of what happened during a call which you can access by viewing the details of the call in the history of the device. For the more zealous of the privacy, Google argues that all that happens in the phone and not saved any transcription or conversation on their servers. For the moment, the system will be available in the united States in the Pixel 3 of the house, but later you will arrive at the previous versions of the end and Google still has not confirmed when it will be available in other markets.
