As part of the “Sport Planet” movement, the MAIF wishes to “engage the world of sport to be an active contributor to change for a more livable planet. Thus, for more than four years, many actors (federations, associations, athletes) have joined the movement to set an example, give voice and raise awareness in their communities. To further strengthen this approach in the year of the 2024 Paris Games, seven champions – totaling 22 Olympic selections – have decided to join the movement: Charlotte Bonnet (swimming), Marine Boyer (gymnastics), Élodie Clouvel (modern pentathlon), Sandrine Gruda (basketball), Mélina Robert-Michon (athletics), Claire Supiot-Garçon (para-swimming) and Chloé Trespeuch (snowboarding).
Now united within the collective “Les Capitaines Sport Planète”, they will participate in several awareness-raising actions throughout the year in order to actively contribute to the ecological transition of the world of sport and encourage more responsible behavior. Starting last Sunday, when they launched the planting of 2024 trees on the prestigious Golf National site in Saint-Quentin en Yvelines. “I am very connected to nature,” said Élodie Clouvel. “Already, I have the chance to often run outdoors, on magnificent courses. Nature is also essential to recharge my batteries, regenerate myself, reconnect with the earth. But I see that these natural environments are deteriorating over time. I would like MAIF to be able to guide me towards good practices to reduce my ecological impact and preserve these spaces as best as possible. I will then be able to pass these practices on to younger generations.”
