The giant men’s race in Sölden (Austria), the traditional first race of the winter which launches the World Cup season, was canceled on Sunday during the first round due to an “extreme wind” on the glacier, announced the organizers. The race was interrupted around 11:00 a.m. local time (10:00 a.m. GMT) after 47 of the 73 skiers entered. Last year, the women’s race was also canceled due to weather conditions.
