On a game action, Borisa Simanic received an involuntary blow from Nuni Omot in the kidneys. Immediately, he left the pitch hard with the help of the doctors to quickly undergo surgery at the Manila hospital. In a press release, the Serbian basketball federation wanted to be rather reassuring: “He received a violent blow to the kidneys. After the match, he was sent to the hospital where he underwent surgery. He feels good, all kidney functions have been preserved, but the competition is over. We wish him a good and speedy recovery,” the Serbian FA wrote in a statement.

However, a few hours later, his condition worsened, the Zaragoza player lost a kidney. No additional news or statement from the player who is not sure he can continue his career. His teammates were quick to send him a message, like Vladimir Stimac: “Borisa Simanic literally gave Serbia a kidney. I hope the state and the federation will know how to appreciate it forever. I am very sad and sorry, I know the boy and I know what a good man he is. Keep Boris by your side.” did he declare. The Serbs, disturbed by this tragedy, will however have to prepare to play a quarter-final of the World Cup against Lithuania on Tuesday.
