At the end of a final full of emotions against its neighbor Nanterre (90-85), Paris Basket won the first trophy in its history, the Leaders Cup. The players and the entire staff let their joy overflow on the floor and in the locker room.

Barely 5 years after its creation in 2018, Paris Basketball continues its dream season. After a rise which saw it arrive in Betclic Elite during the 2021-2022 season, the Parisian club has just won the Leaders Cup in Saint-Chamond after taking out Monaco in the semi-final. Like every first coronation, this one necessarily has a special flavor. All the players as well as the staff did not fail to celebrate it.

Returning to the capital by bus because of an SNCF strike, Parisians were unable to sleep during the journey. When they stopped at a rest area around 1 a.m., TJ Shorts led his team, even off the court, to set the mood. With the legendary music of Queen, “We are the Champions” in the background, the players paraded between the shelves proudly brandishing this first trophy. Back on the bus, the music continued to resonate until we arrived at 4:30 a.m. in the Paris region. When returning home, coach Tuomas Iisalo announced that his players were off until Thursday, enough to provoke new scenes of joy among them.

With this Leaders Cup, the Parisians will be able to inaugurate the trophy cabinet of their new venue, the Adidas Arena. But one thing is certain, they do not intend to stop there. Qualified for the European Cup play-offs and well on their way to those of Betclic Elite as well, the players from the capital do not intend to leave the latter alone for too long.
