“Let’s hope this is a turning point for the rest of the year,” said Bayern’s English center forward Harry Kane, author of a double which allowed his team to overthrow Lazio Rome (3-0) Tuesday in the round of 16 of the Champions League.

Beaten 1-0 at the Olympic Stadium in Rome by Lazio three weeks ago, Bayern dominated the Romans 3-0 on Tuesday evening at the Allianz Arena thanks to a double from Kane and a goal from Thomas Müller, to climb for the fifth consecutive season in the C1 quarter-finals.

“Hopefully this is a turning point for the rest of the year. If we perform like this in most matches, we will find victory again. It was a pleasant day,” explained Harry Kane in the mixed zone.

“It’s been a good season so far in terms of goals scored, but as a team we know we can do better. I’m trying to help in this situation, the team is trying to help in this situation. And we hope that we will be able to use this as a turning point in the Bundesliga to put a little pressure on Leverkusen,” added Kane, author of his fifth and sixth goals in the Champions League this season.

The captain of the English selection has 33 goals since his arrival at Bayern in the summer of 2023.

After only one victory in the last five matches, including three consecutive defeats (two in the league and one in the Champions League), Bayern reversed the match against Lazio Rome, thanks to a double from Harry Kane.

“I think we’re going to need a few good matches to regain our confidence. Tonight was definitely a good step in the right direction. But we have to confirm it in three days, otherwise we will have to start from the beginning,” underlined Joshua Kimmich, placed on the right side of the Munich defense.

“I don’t believe it’s a way to go, to leave the Bundesliga aside and try to perform in the Champions League. That doesn’t have to be the case,” Kimmich added.

Bayern are 10 points behind ten days before the end of the season on Bayer Leverkusen, undefeated Bundesliga leader.
