Bayer Leverkusen corrected Darmstadt (5-1) on Saturday thanks to a double from Victor Boniface, and took the lead in the Bundesliga alone with this third success, while waiting for Bayern’s match at Mönchengladbach at the start of the evening.
After convincing success against RB Leipzig (3-2) and on the lawn of Borussia Mönchengladbach (3-0), Leverkusen now has nine points, the only team so far to have won its first three league matches.
At the start of the evening (6:30 p.m.), Bayern Munich of Harry Kane travel to Gladbach, and will try to imitate Leverkusen with a third success, before the clash of the 4th day at the Allianz Arena, between the men of Xabi Alonso and those of Thomas Tuchel, in ten days after the international break.
In its BayArena, Leverkusen was able to count on Saturday afternoon on its summer recruit, the Nigerian Victor Boniface, author of a double. These are his fourth and fifth goals in his new colors for the former player of Union Saint-Gilloise (Belgium), top scorer in the Europa League last season alongside Marcus Rashford.
For the opener, Boniface went up 70 meters with the ball, taking advantage of a disagreement between two Darmstadt defenders.
Joined in the score against the run of play in the first period, Lukas Hradecky’s teammates did not panic and made the difference in the second half, first by Exequiel Palacios (49th), then Boniface (61st), Jonas Hofmann ( 67th) and Adam Hlozek (83rd).
On the evening of the second day, five teams had won their first two matches. On Saturday, Wolfsburg and Freiburg conceded their first points, respectively beaten by Hoffenheim (3-1) and Stuttgart (5-0). Last team of this leading quintet, Union Berlin receives Leipzig on Sunday (5:30 p.m.).
