The young Frenchman Paul Lapeira won the first victory of his professional career on Saturday by winning the Classic Loire Atlantique solo.

Starting alone a little over 20 km from the finish, the Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale runner managed to maintain a 19-second lead over a first peloton controlled by Belgian Tom Van Asbroeck.

“The group came back really close ten kilometers from the finish but I believed in it and I gave everything I had,” commented Lapeira, 23 years old. This is the fifth victory in 2024 for Vincent Lavenu’s team which confirms its excellent start to the season.
