The next Tour of Italy will start from Turin on May 4, 2024, the organizers of the cycling event announced on Monday, who also revealed the first stages.

Slovenian Primoz Roglic will begin his title defense in Venaria Reale, near Juventus Stadium, for a 136 km circuit and a finale in the heart of the city. The last time the Giro started in Turin was in 2021. Double time trial world champion Filippo Ganna won the time trial there.

The second stage, 150 km long, will leave San Francesco al Campo towards Santuario di Oropa in the Italian Alps, where an 11 km climb at 6.2% elevation will await the runners. The third stage between Novara and Fossano, still in Piedmont, in the north-west of Italy, will be more favorable to sprinters, while the next one will start from Acqui Terme towards an as yet unknown destination in the neighboring region of Liguria.
