Less than six months before the Olympic Games, the Chinese team concluded its World Diving Championships with thirteen medals including nine titles, Saturday in Doha. On the last day of competition, Yang Hao claimed the first individual world title of his career by winning the 10m springboard, three days after his victory, the third in a row, in the synchronized 10m event. The 26-year-old diver received scores of 10 from judges six times during a superb competition at the Doha Aquatics Centre.

He won with a cumulative score of 564.05 points after the six jumps in the final and allowed China to capture a ninth diving title this week. Yang beat his compatriot Cao Yuan, reigning Olympic champion (553.20 pts), and the Ukrainian Oleksii Sereda (528.65 pts). During the week, Chinese divers won nine of the ten events they competed in and finished the competition with 13 medals. The country also shone in artistic swimming, winning seven gold medals.

Before the 2022 Budapest World Championships, the Chinese had won only one artistic swimming title in the previous 18 editions of the World Championships. The country has since won four in Hungary, three in Fukuoka (Japan) last year and seven in Doha.
