Italian striker Nicolo Zaniolo, injured in the foot against Liverpool on Monday evening, will not be able to defend the colors of his country at the Euro, from June 14 to July 14, in Germany. He has been suffering from a microfracture in his left foot since Monday and the match on the 37th day of the English Championship between his team and Liverpool (3-3).

“Unfortunately, I will have to give up the dream of representing my country in a major competition. But that day will come, I’m sure, and it will be beautiful! Come on Azzurri,” he reacted on Instagram. The striker, on loan from Galatasaray to Aston Villa, has been selected 19 times for the Italian team (2 goals).

Italy coach Luciano Spalletti has used it in six of the eight matches played by the Nazionale since he took office last August. Spalletti must unveil his list of players selected for the German Euro early next week. Italy, the reigning European champion, will face Albania, Spain and Croatia in the group stage of Euro-2024.
