In an interview with Footballogue, Julien, an amateur referee, describes how from a simple football match, he ended up being threatened and hit. It all starts with a simple six meters, played irregularly by the Cergy goalkeeper. Julien then asks to do it again, before the goalkeeper reacts badly and the young referee draws a first yellow card, before sending a second to the player who does not calm down, synonymous with exclusion.

From there, the meeting will calm down until the end of the match told by the main person concerned. “There are supporters who are starting to call out to me, saying several times: “The referee is dead.” There is a second red card for Cergy (…) and the match will end with the winning goal for Paris 13 Atlético. (…) A person introducing himself as the vice-president of Cergy said to me: “Mr. referee, be very careful, what will happen to you there or after the match is not our responsibility.” » he mentions before talking about the attack he suffered.

“We are being insulted, death threats from all sides. I think there were two or three bottles of water spilled on us. Then I will receive spit, empty water bottles. I receive a blow to the head. (…) In the locker room, there is a mirror, that’s when I realize I’m bleeding.”

After the statement taken by the police, and the wound treated by the firefighters, Julien was escorted to his vehicle before filing a complaint at the Cergy-Pontoise police station.
