This Wednesday evening, the match between Philadelphia Union and New York City FC (1-2) was interrupted for several moments in the middle of the first period because of… a raccoon. After 2 minutes 41 minutes of roaming, “Raquinho”, as he was named by the American Soccer League (MLS), was caught using a trash can. A surreal but hilarious scene.
In the process, MLS announced a new record on its X account: “The player spent 161 seconds on the field tonight, which is the most seconds spent by a raccoon in MLS history .”. Congratulations to this animal who, however, did not have the opportunity to shake the nets.
