Faris Moumbagna and Jean Onana, players from Olympique de Marseille, were victims of an attempted carjacking on Monday around 4 a.m., reveals Europe 1. The incident would have occurred in the southern districts of Marseille, confirms RMC Sport. The two men had contributed, a few hours earlier, to OM’s victory on the Le Havre pitch (1-2) during the 34th and final day of Ligue 1.

Onana and Moumbagna, both Cameroonian internationals and recruited by OM last January, escaped without injury. RMC Sport specifies that the players, as usual after an away championship match, collected their car from the club’s training center once back in Marseille. The attack allegedly occurred on the way back to their home.

Bullet holes were found on the vehicle in question. The thugs failed to seize the car and managed to flee. Moumbagna, 23-year-old center forward, is under contract until June 2028 at OM. Onana, a 24-year-old midfielder, was loaned with an option to buy by the Turkish club Besiktas.
