A small incident in the Alpine stand at the Chinese Grand Prix this Sunday. While Frenchman Pierre Gasly was called back to change tires, the team struggled to fix the right rear tire. The car was released too early and a mechanic found himself thrown to the ground by this maneuver. Canal reports that the mechanic is fine.
In total, the pit stop lasted 19.3 seconds, much longer than the standard pit stop time of 2 to 3 seconds on average. A failure that the French team would have done well without, which had never been so well placed on the grid this season. Pierre Gasly started 15th, two places behind his teammate Esteban Ocon, 13th. The first had even managed to place himself in the points zone before the incident. Alpine has still not scored a single point this season.
