He will have waited 110 races before winning his Holy Grail. Lando Norris won the Miami GP, his first race in Formula 1 for the man who already had 15 podiums on the clock. Now here he is in another category after a perfect race: “It was incredible. The crowd was great and the whole team was there. We had to work hard to get there so it’s all joy and smiles, which isn’t always the case. I had dreamed of this day sometimes and I didn’t know when it was going to happen or if it was going to happen but it happened today. My mind was going crazy and I thought about a lot of things, it was good to remember everything that got me through that moment. Getting your first victory is always incredible. I had been close at times but I had never been able to convert that into a victory. I never doubted even though many people doubted that I would ever win. I wasn’t worried and I was even more confident than ever this season that I had everything I needed to be able to win. I was patient, I was just doing my job, doing my best in the races and qualifying. I knew my moment was coming. I said it this morning and yet I am not often optimistic.”
