TOPS
This is the final score of the festival we attended on Tuesday evening. And quite simply a record. Never before has the French youth team scored nine goals, the Bleuets’ previous biggest victory dating back to 1985, with a 7-0 obtained under the orders of Marc Bourrier against Yugoslavia. A record broken this evening, in a stadium in the Alps which was logically delighted with the spectacle
What a match from number 10 of the Bleuets! While Rayan Cherki is no longer a starter at Olympique Lyonnais since the arrival on the bench of Fabio Grosso, he is having a blast in the French team. This evening, he delivered a major performance. A permanent danger for the Cypriot defense, he also inherited the captain’s armband upon leaving Zaire-Emery. Which gave him additional motivation, since he then scored a double. To finish, he was decisive on 5 occasions and notably scored the record goal, before leaving to the applause. We hope to see him evolve in the championship at this level against Clermont on Sunday evening.
FLOPS
While Elye Wahi, like his teammates at the front of the attack, had an excellent first half, he collapsed just before half-time. Touched on the counter which led to the fourth goal, he took many minutes before leaving the field. Verdict. A hard blow for RC Lens, who face Le Havre in the league on Friday but especially PSV in the Champions League next Tuesday and who hope to be able to count on their scorer. The Parisian Zaire-Emery came out at the break, and was seen with a block of ice on his ankle. Parisian supporters will impatiently await his news, as European deadlines approach.
While the speaker at the Stade des Alpes announced a minute of silence for the victims of the Hamas-Israel conflict and for the professor murdered in Arras, there was no respect. Many cries were heard, disrupting the tribute. A damaging downside in an otherwise almost perfect evening.
