France eliminated Italy in the quarter-final (4-1) then Georgia in the half (4-2). Japan crushed Germany (4-0) then Uzbekistan (4-1). Except in 2017, when Japan beat Brazil, with France consoling itself with bronze for the inaugural edition of this mixed competition, the final has always been between Japan and France. After five silver medals, the Blues will try to win their first gold medal after 6:00 p.m. local time (4:00 p.m. French time).

Against Italy in the quarter, the Blues started with a calm 4-1 victory (success for Maxime Ngayap, Léa Fontaine, Axel Clerget, Joan-Benjamin Gaba, defeat for Priscilla Gneto). In the half, against the Georgia of Olympic and world vice-champion Guram Tushishvili, they had slightly more difficulty (4-2).

France is notably supported by veteran Axel Clerget (-90 kg). Not selected for the Games, the 37-year-old double world bronze medalist (2018 and 2019) is keen to have a great competition, one of his last, and won his two fights. Margaux Pinot, neo-70 kg world champion, won her first fight of the day against Georgia.
