Special envoy to Roscoff

The weather conditions of the coming days have forced the race management to modify the appearance of the final stage of this Solitaire 2023. The immense anticyclone reigning in the Bay of Biscay initially makes it impossible to reach a buoy off the coast of Gijón in Spain programmed.

The new route was commented on by Philippe Hartz (National Navy-Foundation of the Sea) at the end of the last weather briefing offered by Météo Consult: “We are going to be eaten with a soft, pasty sauce, which sticks to the water. The course has been shortened. The beginning, from Roscoff, will be tricky, complicated and you will have to keep calm. We will then go to a mark off Lake Hourtin. After this buoy, we will go towards Piriac, with a small loop which will allow us to adjust the arrival time. I hope to be among the first to enter the small port.”

This course offers from 1 p.m. tomorrow for the 32 sailors in the race, 470 miles to cover.
