Gennaro Gattuso, new Marseille coach, beaten 3-2 at Monaco:

“I liked the personality of the players. There are small details on which we could have done better and which condemned us. We missed a lot on the technical level but the team gave everything. We have to improve but I liked the state of mind and the way of trying until the end not to lose. There was also an attack-defense imbalance. We still created chances. Defensively, we have to improve, we conceded three very avoidable goals. On the first we are not marking, on the second neither and on the third we must do better. We conceded ten goals in three games, it’s an alarming figure and one that we must improve. It’s not easy to correct that, it’s not just a defensive line problem, it’s a collective problem. We need to keep our heads held high, stop hurting ourselves. It is only through work that we can get out of this. I don’t know if the three days before Brighton will be enough. We must defend together, play together, give the opponent fewer opportunities. The game I want to play is not easy, it will take time. But I think the team can do well.”
