It was Breton derby day Sunday afternoon in Rennes. The Reds and Blacks faced the Canaries Nantais at home, in a game which resulted in a victory for the locals three goals to one. Benjamin Bourigeaud, Désiré Doué and Arnaud Kalimuendo scored the three Rennes goals, while Pedro Chirivella saved the honor for Nantes. But the show was not only put on by the players.
Following the victory of Bruno Génesio’s men, the Rennes mascot (the ermine Erminig), probably inspired by the Rugby World Cup, tackled Riri, the Nantes Canary. A perfectly controlled tackle, which led to the Nantes muse being evacuated on a stretcher. A staging since she got up immediately, while Erminig went to brag on the set of the match broadcaster. A funny scene which delighted the Roazhon Park supporters who remained after their team’s victory.
