A serious RC Lens this Saturday. Franck Haise’s men did not go into detail to dispose of Clermontois (3-0). Elye Wahi opened the scoring for the Sang et Or with a header in the 11th minute of play. The Auvergnats were cornered in defense before rebelling after half an hour of play. But the end of the first period was very tense between the two teams. The northern striker Wahi and the Clermontois Alidu Seidu were excluded after a scuffle which lasted several minutes. CF63 coach Pascal Gastien also received a red card following this altercation.

The second half started on a much healthier footing, before Mory Diaw came to bury the hopes of his teammates. The Auvergne goalkeeper was the author of a fatal error, on a completely missed restart, which ended directly at the feet of Adrien Thomasson. The Lensois did not miss the opportunity and allowed his team to take a two-goal lead in the 50th minute of play. The last half hour was a real crossroads for the Clermontois, resigned and dejected. Wesley Saïd came to complete the Lensois success by ridiculing the Auvergne defense on a personal exploit (82nd), after a very good pass from Florian Sotoca, who entered the game a little earlier. Note the worrying injury exit of Morgan Guilavogui, stunned after a significant impact to the head.

Thanks to this victory, RC Lens consolidates its sixth place in the standings and comes within one point of Reims. The Northerners signed a fifth match without conceding a single goal and were full of confidence before the trip to Arsenal on Wednesday in the Champions League. For their part, the Clermontois remain stuck in penultimate place in Ligue 1, with an attack at half mast, the 17th in the championship.
