Paris Saint-Germain hosted Montpellier Hérault SC this Friday evening on the lawn of the Parc des Princes, during the 11th day of Ligue 1. An important meeting for Luis Enrique’s players who wanted to build confidence with the trip to Milan on Tuesday evening in the Champions League. And without years trembling. PSG easily won at home against the Héraultais thanks to goals from Kang-In Lee (10th), Warren Zaire-Emery (58th) and Vitinha (66th). With this success, the Parisian players temporarily take the lead in the ranking.
In the first period, Michel Der Zakarian’s players quickly showed good things, notably with this strike from Téji Savanier on a serve from Khalil Fayad, well countered by Nordi Mukiele (2nd) and this rapid counter phase which forced Gianluigi Donnarumma who came out more than 40 meters from his cages to clear the ball into touch. Meanwhile, the Parisians try to bring danger on the right side by relying on the speed of Lee Kang-in and Ousmane Dembélé. And in the first real Parisian action, Achraf Hakimi overflowed on the right flank and served behind Kylian Mbappé, at the entrance to the area, who let the ball pass behind him for Lee Kang-In who landed a strike in the skylight (10th). This first period was well controlled by Paris, which also resisted certain Montpellier attacks, notably Akor Adams (34th).
In the second act, Luis Enrique’s players quickly got their foot back on the ball. PSG started strong at the start of the half. Kylian Mbappé rushed down the left side and attempted a cross that no one was able to recover. Zaire Emery then fought to recover the ball by getting rid of two defenders in a small space but struggled to land a shot (48th). A few minutes later, Warren Zaire Emery found Dembélé who played a backheel one-two to give it back to the young French midfielder (58th). The latter has a skylight exterior. A superb goal and another superb combination which will be repeated in the following actions. In another very good collective action, Ousmane Dembélé perfectly served the Vitinha midfielder with a touch of the ball. Coming back, he landed a perfectly placed shot into the net (66th), allowing Paris to take cover.
With this result, Paris Saint-Germain temporarily takes the lead in the Ligue 1 ranking, while Montpellier is still in the soft spot with an anecdotal 11th position. Next week, the Rouge et Bleu will fly to Milan at the start of the week to challenge AC Milan, on the San Siro pitch on Tuesday evening, during the 4th day of Group F of the Champions League. They will then play against Stade de Reims at the Auguste-Delaune stadium. The residents of La Mosson will face OGC Nice.
