Stade Rennes players returned to La Piverdière, their training centre, on Friday to prepare for the next season, which is still full of ambitions for the Rouge et Noir club. The club posted photos on social media of several players arriving all smiles. Friday should be devoted to testing, before Monday’s return to the field.
If Martin Terrier and Adrien Truffert, still in the recovery phase after heavy injuries, returned on Monday, a certain number of Rennais are however still on vacation. The internationals solicited by their selection in June (the Belgians Arthur Théate and Jérémy Doku, the Norwegian Birger Meling) will resume on July 17. Les Bleuets committed to Euro-Espoirs Amine Gouiri and Arnaud Kalimuendo will return on July 24 and Ibrahim Salah, retained with Morocco who is playing the CAN U23 final on Saturday, even later.
Another Bleuet, on the other hand, is expected on Friday: Lorient’s Enzo Le Fée must finalize his transfer during the day. Another good catch from Rennes after the arrival this week of Nantes’ Ludovic Blas. “We are an ambitious club, which gives itself the means to have very important objectives”, recalled sports director Florian Maurice on Thursday.
To accelerate the integration of its recruits, Rennes is aiming for “the best in their Ligue 1 club (…). All the foreign clubs come to look for French players, why would we deprive ourselves of doing it”, explained Maurice. The sporting director however confirmed that departures were envisaged, like that of Jérémy Doku, author of a spectacular end to the season after a series of injuries. Similarly, Maurice said he received an offer for Croatian Lovro Majer.
