Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique appreciated Friday the “attitude” of his players after the big victory against AS Monaco (5-2) at the opening of the 13th day of L1, “a match that was worth it,” he said.
“Monaco has the same level as us, has great aspirations in Ligue 1, so it’s a very good result obtained and the best way to prepare for a vital match like the one against Newcastle (next Tuesday in the Champions League, Editor’s note ),” declared the Spanish coach at a press conference.
With this success, PSG has consolidated its leadership position: Nice, which faces Toulouse on Sunday (1:00 p.m.), is four points behind, Monaco, which remains third, is six lengths behind.
“Two teams at this level who never calculate, who offer high pressure and such a spectacle, for us (coaches), it’s always difficult,” he added, but “for me the most important thing is “is to see the attitude of my team after the international break.”
“We trained for a day, an hour, but this match was well worth it,” he stressed.
For his part, Monaco coach Adi Hütter estimated that four of the five goals conceded by his players were the result of “errors”. “I am angry for this reason,” he added, stressing that he had “not seen any big differences between the two teams”.
“I think these are too easy mistakes. At times we were up to par with PSG but they were much more efficient, I still want to congratulate my team who didn’t give up, but we must not make any errors in concentration at this level,” said he pointed out.
“I don’t think they were very above it, but they were more clinical. Paris is a top team, they punished our mistakes,” also said Folarin Balogun, the Monaco striker, in the mixed zone.
