The General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) has been seized for acts of illegal taking of interests concerning the safety and security director of FC Nantes, whose appointment is the subject of appeal, the Nantes prosecutor said on Wednesday. .

The IGPN was seized after a denunciation by the prefecture of the Western defense and security zone of acts of illegal taking of interests against David Amaré, according to prosecutor Renaud Gaudeul, confirming information from Presse-Océan.

A territorial intelligence policeman responsible for monitoring and anticipating violence in sport, Mr. Amaré joined the Nantes club during the summer as director of safety and security (DSS), a private activity project contested by the prefecture, which also refused his release for personal reasons.

This refusal was suspended by the administrative court of Rennes in a decision rendered on June 14 and consulted by AFP. The administrative judge ordered the prefecture to seek an opinion from the High Authority for the Transparency of Public Life (HATVP) to re-examine the police officer’s situation. According to Presse-Océan, the HATVP issued an unfavorable opinion.

Rejected by many Nantes ultras, the appointment of Mr. Amaré is also contested by the National Association of Supporters (ANS), which denounced in a letter addressed to the HATVP on July 6 “a risk of illegal taking of interests” . Contacted by AFP, Mr. Amaré had not reacted early Wednesday evening.

Since the start of the season, a conflict has pitted him against Nantes ultras over the use of smoke bombs in the stadium, which has earned FC Nantes recurring financial sanctions.

The ultras of the Loire Brigade have denounced in recent weeks measures banning animation equipment aimed at them, directives ultimately not respected by the supporters who were able to return with their equipment during the receptions in Monaco and Marseille.

Before the meeting against Marseille last week, the security company Event Safety, which had been working in the Loire stand since this summer, had announced that it would withdraw its 20 agents to protect them, criticizing “dangerous” and “unreasoned” instructions from the club.
