Ligue 1 is getting closer. Bordeaux recovered after their setback in Metz the previous day: the Girondins dominated Grenoble 3-0 (half-time: 1-0) at the end of the 32nd day, Monday at Matmut Atlantique, and kept second place in Ligue 2 ahead of the Garnets. After a start to the match rather to the advantage of Grenoble, Bordeaux gradually took the upper hand, and the situation was resolved in their favor at the best time, just before the break.

We are in the 42nd minute: on a corner taken from the right by Alexi Pitu, Yoann Barbet deflects with a header towards Josh Maja. The Nigerian international striker, alone at the far post, only has to push the ball into the Iséroise cage to score his 14th goal of the season (1-0). Previously, the two teams had each had opportunities to open the scoring, but Bardet by deflecting a ball on his crossbar (12th) or several parades from the excellent Grenoble goalkeeper Brice Maubleu, had prevented them.

At the start of the second half, Bordeaux increased the pressure on the Grenoble team and made the break in the 57th minute thanks to Zuriko Davitashvili. Launched in depth, the Georgian international striker escaped the marking of Mathys Tourraine to present himself alone in front of Maubleu and deceive him with a shot from the right (2-0).

Josh Maja stunned the visitors seven minutes later by scoring Girondin’s third goal, his fifteenth of the season, with a powerful shot from the edge of the area. Maubleu could only deflect the ball propelled by the Nigerian into his net (3-0).

His double allows Maja to climb on the podium of the Ligue 2 scorers’ ranking, on the third step, behind Messin Georges Mikautadze (19 goals) and Stéphanois Jean-Philippe Krasso (16). After their loss at home against Saint-Etienne, Grenoble suffered a second defeat in a row, which had never happened to them this season.
