Xabi Alonso announced at a press conference on Friday that he will still be the coach of Bayer Leverkusen next season, while he was coveted by several major European clubs, notably Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

“I wanted to take advantage of the international break to think a little better. Last week I had a good meeting with Simon (Rolfes, the sporting director), Fernando (Carlo, the president) and I gave them my decision to continue being coach of Bayer Leverkusen,” explained the technician.
