On the occasion of a series (“Bardot”) broadcast Monday evening on France 2, the daily newspaper L’Équipe gave the floor to Brigitte Bardot this Sunday in an interview where the French icon evokes the place of animals, a cause that is dear to him, in the world of sport and especially during major sporting events.
“BB”, which had alerted South Korea in 2002 on this subject on the occasion of the Football World Cup or even China at the time of the Beijing Olympics, once again denounces the widespread mistreatment of competition organizers. “Whatever the country for the World Cup or any official event, we don’t care about animals. They are made to disappear savagely by poisoning or mortal wounds inflicted by blows from iron bars, ”regrets the 88-year-old actress.
The ex-model, who recently attacked Emmanuel Macron in an open letter, fears an identical situation for the future Olympic Games in Paris that France should never have agreed to organize according to her. “It’s an additional madness that comes at a crucial moment when Paris is disfigured, when the debt incumbent on us is abysmal, when the unleashed violence is not controlled, when the dramatic events that have occurred at the Stade de France have still not not been settled, she explains before refocusing on the subject of the interview. As for animals and horses in particular, they will once again be the first victims of this relentless desire to appear”.
Horse sports are not immune to the rapier blows distributed by Brigitte Bardot. “The innate barbarism of the human being is revealed in broad daylight, in full view of the world during horse shows. The “cavalier” way in which one treats one’s mount says a lot about the suffering of horses. The spurs in the flesh, the brutality of pulling on the reins which saw their jaws, the horribly painful blows of the whip which only serve to exhaust the horse which is already giving the best of itself…”, adds- she, advocating, to reconcile with horses, to “ride bareback” to “be one with your horse.”
Finally, Brigitte Bardot does not spare athletes caught for mistreating animals and in particular Kurt Zouma, the defender of the France team, sentenced last June by British justice to 180 hours of community service for having mistreated her cat at her home, after a video went viral in February. “People like Kurt Zouma are monsters, garbage and should be punished severely. I am for the law of retaliation”, concludes the president of the Brigitte Bardot Foundation.
