An amateur rider died overnight from Friday to Saturday in an accident during the Dourdou motorcycle rally, in Aveyron, AFP learned from the firefighters and the organization, confirming information from the Center Presse Aveyron newspaper.
The 27-year-old man left the road around 1 a.m. near the town of Polissal, firefighters said.
The organizers temporarily suspended the race, before resuming around noon by removing the section of road where the accident took place. An investigation is underway, led by the gendarmes of Marcillac-Vallon.
The 19th edition of the Dourdou motorcycle rally is held between Friday and Saturday, departing from the town of Villecomtal. It is part of the events of the French road rally championship.
