A little less than 50,000 state civil service agents, which number 2.5 million in total, will be particularly mobilized during the Olympic Games (July 26-August 11), we learned on Friday. The bulk of the mobilized personnel will come from the police (25,000 agents deployed) and the army (20,000), said a source close to the matter the day after a meeting to prepare for the Olympics which brought together the administration and the unions of civil servants.
According to estimates presented by the administration during this meeting, the Ministry of Ecological Transition “would have dispatched around 1,500 agents” for the largest sporting event in the world, continues this source. “A few hundred” would be mobilized for the Repression of Fraud (DGCCRF), “500 for Foreign Affairs”, “500 to 600 agents for the social ministries and around 700 agents for the Ministry of Justice”, she listed . The “almost crystallized” figures are “still likely to move upward,” she added.
In an instruction sent in March to the ministries, the General Directorate of Administration and Civil Service (DGAFP) asked them to identify before March 31 the agents “whose presence is essential during the period of preparation or holding of the Games “. During Thursday’s meeting, four points were discussed: the organization of the Games, social dialogue, the methods of organizing work during the Olympics and the support measures for mobilized agents (places in crèche, childcare of children…).
The CGT and FO, the first two public service unions which both filed strike notices covering the period of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (August 28-September 8), were not present at the meeting. In a message to AFP, the boss of the CGT of state agents, Céline Verzeletti, asks to meet the Minister of the Civil Service, Stanislas Guerini, “to discuss a common and binding base” of measures of support for mobilized agents, in the three branches of the public sector (State, hospitals, local authorities).
Dissatisfied with the government’s salary policy for civil servants, FO suspended its participation in meetings with the government and the administration until the end of April, where the union must be received by the office of Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.
