The Germans, who dismissed the Brazilians, and the Serbians obtained the last two tickets for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris (July 26 – August 11) in basketball after the last matches of the qualification tournament in Belem (Brazil) Sunday.

The German women’s team, which won 73-71, qualified for the first time in its history for the Games, eliminating at the same time the Brazilians, silver medalists in 1996 and bronze four years later at Sydney.

Before the last meetings on Sunday, only Australia had already sealed its place for Paris. The Australians won 75-73 against Serbia – bronze medalist in 2016 in Rio – who nevertheless took third place in group A, qualifying for the Olympic Games in Paris. The Serbs earlier beat Brazil 72-65.

The 12 qualified national teams are now known, including Belgium, Japan and Nigeria. France, as host country, and the United States, world champions, were already assured of a place at the 2024 Olympics.
