The American Riley Sheehan won the Paris-Tours cycling race on Sunday in a sprint, ahead of the Briton Lewis Askey and the Norwegian Tobias Halland Johannessen. “This morning, I didn’t think I would win Paris-Tours, but I knew that with my team, we could do something,” declared the American (Israel-Premier Tech) at the end of the event.

Escaping from kilometer 25, the Briton Lewis Askey (Groupama FDJ) was finally caught, a little less than 11 km from the finish, by the American Sheehan, the French Olivier Le Gac (Groupama FDJ) and Joris Delbove ( St Michel Mavic-Auber 93), and the Norwegian Tobias Halland Johannessen (UNO-X Pro Cycling Team).

The crossing of the famous vineyard paths, ten sectors of gravel and dirt roads, followed by narrow and winding climbs and descents was fatal to many runners, including one of the favorites, Arnaud De Lie (Lotto Dstny) who abandoned (like fourteen other participants) due to a puncture.
