A road marshal of the Cardabelles car rally, in Aveyron, died on Saturday after being hit by the vehicle of a competitor who left the road, according to the race organizers.
The victim, aged 74 according to the firefighters, was in cardiorespiratory arrest when emergency services arrived who were unable to resuscitate him.
This accident, which took place in Sainte-Eulalie-de-Cernon, some 25 kilometers south of Millau, prompted the suspension of the race for the day.
During the same rally, in October 2019, a 19-year-old man was killed and five people were injured when an engaged vehicle left the road and mowed down spectators.
