A miracle. There are no other words to describe what happened during Esapekka Lappi’s violent accident during the Central European Rally this weekend. Friday, during the fifth special stage of the event, the Finn made a mistake in a narrow but very fast, slightly curved section, at the wheel of the Toyota.
The driver lost control of his vehicle while his careless spectators were at the edge of the track. Launched at more than 100 km/h, Lappi hit a tree before finishing his race in a field without anyone being injured, fortunately.
Lappi was unable to control his Toyota after running over mud with his rear wheel. This is the third crash for the driver and his co-driver Janne Ferm in four events.
