In Aix-en-Provence
Since Sunday, Antoine Dupont has resumed individual training. Bike, rower, a little weight training. And, for the moment, without any difficulty. “First, on Sunday, Antoine did some lifting exercises (bicycle, rower, Editor’s note). As he responded well, we moved very quickly to the race where Antoine reached 50% of his maximum speed, then 70%,” revealed Bruno Boussagol.
The health manager of the XV of France also gave an update on his neurological condition. “Antoine validated his concussion protocol this Tuesday morning. Following his frontal impact, there was suspicion of concussion. In the emergency, he had undergone HIA 1 but the priority being his surgical intervention, he did not undergo HIA 3 because, after anesthesia, there is no point. We therefore successfully underwent an HIA 4. He is therefore not declared as having suffered a concussion and he has validated all his neurological examinations. He is free from that too. “It won’t be a hindrance to its recovery.”
The following ? “Next step next Monday with the visit to his surgeon. The last check. We will wait for the opinion of our surgeon to imagine the evolution next week, warns Bruno Boussagol. There is a decision tree. The prerequisite is medical advice. As long as we don’t have this green light, no rugby, no contact. If this prerequisite is passed, we switch to another environment. We will see with him how he reacts, if he has all his physical capabilities, if he is not afraid of contact. If so, we will move on to the 3rd step: the choice of coaches. They will discuss with Antoine to make their decision. But these steps are subject to the surgeon’s agreement.”
