Evan Ndicka, 24, collapsed last Sunday in the 70th minute of the match between Udinese and AS Roma, counting for the 32nd day of the Italian championship. He was quickly evacuated to the stadium infirmary, then to a hospital in Udine, the emergency services then feared that he had suffered a heart attack. After spending a night under observation, he was able to return to Rome, the examinations having established that he had “no cardiac pathology”, but “a chest trauma with minimal left pneumothorax”.

“He is fine. Pneumothorax is something annoying and painful, but, fortunately so to speak, he does not suffer from what we feared when he collapsed on the pitch,” Daniele De Rossi said at a press conference. No date has yet been set for Ndicka’s return to training and competition.
