The English Federation (RFU) unveiled this Wednesday a group of 36 players to prepare for the last two matches of the Six Nations Tournament, against Ireland and France. Note the return to the English squad of fly-half Marc Smith, but the RFU has clarified that he will continue his rehabilitation, as will scrum-half Alex Mitchell. The Harlequins player did not play in this 2024 edition, due to a calf injury contracted during a preparatory camp in Girona (Spain).
“Marcus Smith and Alex Mitchell will rejoin the team to continue their rehabilitation after their injury,” the English Federation said in a press release. Both players were expected to miss the end of the Six Nations Tournament, but XV de la Rose coach Steve Borthwick said this week that he hopes for their return before the end of this edition. “I am quite optimistic about the return to the selection of Marcus (Smith) for the end of the Six Nations,” declared the technician.
New international Immanuel Feyi-Waboso (21), a medical student, was not selected because he had to take an exam. The Exeter winger is in fact continuing his studies with the ambition of becoming a doctor, alongside his sporting career. However, he must take a face-to-face exam at the University of Exeter, a campus in the south of England.
