The world No. 1 spot remains occupied by Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, but it is only a matter of time before Serbian Novak Djokovic regains his place at the top of the ATP.

At the US Open, Novak Djokovic (2nd) will only need to qualify for the second round by dismissing the tricolor Alexandre Müller (85th) to ensure that he regains the number one spot. Not having participated in the US Open last year for having refused the anti-covid vaccine, he has no point to defend, the opposite of Carlos Alacaraz outgoing winner.

Beyond the top 20, Sebastian Baez (32nd) gained ten places in the ATP rankings and made the strongest progress in the top 100 thanks to his victory in the final of the Winston-Salem tournament against the Czech Jiri Lehecka (6-4, 6-3). On the French side, Ugo Humbert (33rd) is the new French number one ahead of Adrian Mannarino (35th) who had his points from Winston Salem 2022 to defend. The French winner of the ATP 250 last year skipped this tournament to prepare as well as possible for the last Grand Slam of the year. Finally, after a great tournament, Richard Gasquet climbs two places and is 55th before the US Open.
