The Kazakh Elena Rybakina, winner of the Brisbane tournament on Sunday, took third place in the WTA rankings published on Monday, at the expense of the American Coco Gauff.
Rybakina sharply defeated Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, still 2nd in the world, the day before in the final of the WTA 500 tournament in Brisbane, Australia 6-0, 6-3. This is the only change in the Top 10 at the start of the season. This was a meeting in the form of a remake of the final of the 2023 Australian Open, then won by Sabalenka. Elena Rybakina is full of confidence by winning her 6th title, less than a week before the start of the first round of the Grand Slam in Melbourne.
Coco Gauff falls to 4th place in the ranking, the day after her victory at the 250 tournament in Auckland, while the Chinese Qinwen Zheng, 21, obtains the best ranking of her career, in 13th position (1).
