RC Toulon international scrum-half Baptiste Serin injured his knee just before half-time in the Challenge Cup final, won on Friday night against the Glasgow Warriors (43-19). Just before that, he had been imperial, notably scoring two tries. Unable to walk after his injury, he had been evacuated by the staff. The Var number 9 then returned, on crutches, to celebrate with his teammates. “He was injured but I hope it will be fine for him for the future”, had advanced Pierre Mignoni.
According to information from L’Équipe , the exams taken by the Var number 9 turned out to be rather reassuring. He shouldn’t be absent for between 3 and 4 weeks. But he will therefore miss the last match of the RCT regular season, Saturday (9:05 p.m.) in Mayol, against Bordeaux-Bègles, and should not play again this season with his club. Because Toulon will need a small miracle to qualify for the final stages: it would be necessary for the Varois to win with the offensive bonus against UBB and that, at the same time, Bayonne win with the bonus at Lyon, without the LOU taking a point.
