From Florence to Nice, from June 29 to July 21, 2024, the Tour will experience its 111th edition. Between novelty and tradition. An aesthetic, romantic, athletic edition which hopes to bring the suspense as far as possible with a time trial set on the last day (for the first time since 1989 and the unforgettable LeMond-Fignon duel separated by 8 eternal seconds) between Monaco and Nice. 1st departure from Italy. From Florence.
1st arrival outside Paris. Due to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games (July 26-August 11), the epilogue of the Grande Boucle will take place in Nice.
2 time trials. Only one time trial appeared on the route last year, two are set up this year (one for specialists; the last for the strong men in the general classification). 59 km in total (25 km between Nuits-Saint-Gerorges and Gevrey-Chambertin during the 7th stage; plus 34 km during the 21st and final Monaco-Nice stage).
2 days of rest (Orléans, July 8 and Gruissan, July 15).
2.3 million euros in prize money (including 500,000 euros for the winner).

Paved in 1960-61, the Col de la Bonnette was included on the Tour route in 1962 (Bahamontes took the lead), then put back in 1964. Then very shortly after (Rominger-Indurain 1993, then 2008).

4800 m the highest altitude difference over a day, during the 15th stage Loudenvielle-Plateau de Beille (4600 m for the 19th stage Embrun-Isola 2000; 4350 m for the 11th stage Evaux-les-Bains-Le Lioran).
