Belgian rider from the Visma-Lease a bike team Cian Uijtdebroeks will not start the 11th stage of the Tour of Italy between Foiano di Val Fortore and Francavilla al Mare on Wednesday, his team announced.

“We regret to announce that Cian Uijtdebroeks is forced to abandon the race. Cian was not feeling well in recent days and after yesterday’s stage he fell ill,” the team said on its X account about the 21-year-old cyclist, its leader in the event this year.

Visma has already suffered the abandonment of the Dutch Robert Gesink and Olav Kooij, as well as the French Christophe Laporte during this 107th edition of the Giro, and now finds itself with only four elements still in the race.

In the general classification, Uijtdebroeks, who wore the white jersey of the best young person, was in 5th place on Tuesday, 4 min 15 sec behind Slovenian Tadej Pogacar.
