The French Dorian Coninx, 2023 world triathlon champion, victim of a double fracture during a fall last Saturday during the World Triathlon Series in Yokohama in Japan, will have surgery and wants to continue his preparation for the Paris Olympic Games according to a press release from his entourage on Wednesday.

“Dorian Coninx, victim of a fall while cycling during the WTS Yokohama event (…) suffers from a complete non-displaced fracture of the right wrist and a non-displaced fracture of the right elbow. He will be operated on tomorrow (Thursday) in order to be able to resume training as soon as possible,” specifies the text.

Before his fall, the 30-year-old from Grenoble represented a serious hope of a medal for France at the 2024 Olympics, even if this type of meeting has not yet allowed him to break through: ranked 36th in Rio in 2016 and 17th five years later in Tokyo, where he also obtained a bronze medal in the mixed relay.

“It’s a hard blow but I’m keeping my spirits up and I haven’t given up on my Olympic selection and my sporting ambitions for the Paris Olympic Games. A race against time begins and I will do everything to win it,” declared Dorian Coninx, quoted in the press release, 72 days before the deadline.
